B cell adaptor protein (BCAP), also known as phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K) adaptor protein, is a protein tyrosine kinase substrate that couples B-cell receptor to PI3K activation. Tyrosine phosphorylation of BCAP is mediated by Syk and Btk, creating a binding site for PI3K. It is involved in the regulation of PI3K localization. BCAP is expressed in B-cell and macrophage cell-lines but also in various tissues such as spleen, lung, liver and thymus.
